Carolina Center for EFT was pleased to advertise the following event provided by EFT Tennessee. Due to COVID-19 this event is postponed. New date is not yet determined.
Provided by EFT Tennessee and led by by Kenneth Sanderfer, ICEEFT certified EFT Trainer
The Carolina Center for EFT is committed to the goal of expanding the accessibility of EFT across a diversity of cultural groups. We welcome all mental health professionals to our introductory 4-day trainings. We also recognize that some Christian counselors may be unsure whether to embrace this model, since it was not explicitly developed from a Biblical stance. Thus we are advertising this faith sensitive externship which will assuage those fears.
Led by Kenneth Sanderfer, co-author with Dr. Sue Johnson of Created for Connection: The “Hold me Tight” Guide for Christian couples, and provided by EFT Tennessee, this Externship will give participants excellent training in the EFT model and at the same time show them how this attachment-based model of therapy is indeed congruent with their faith. This externship will include language of Christian culture and assure therapist trainees that by working with this model of therapy, they can help their clients to strengthen both their faith and their most precious relationships.
Trainer: Kenny Sanderfer is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. He is founder and director of the Tennessee/Kentucky Center for EFT, educating and training EFT Therapists across several states. Kenny is an Approved Supervisor for AAMFT and Director of the Marriage and Family Institute, LLC in Nashville, TN. Kenny is an owner and EFT specialist in HighlandsWay Center for Counseling, LLC with counseling offices throught the Sourtheast, and an Adjunct Professor in the clinical Ph.D. program at Trevecca Nazarene University.
Kenny lives on a farm, loves his horses, and is clearly a cowboy at heart. He spent his younger years riding the rodeo circuit in Texas and eventually transplanted to Africa, as an agricultural and development specialist. Kenny is truly a man for all seasons, but helping people deepen their relationships is his lifelong mission.
Course Description:
Innovative and inspiring, this 4-day Externship provides you with an in-depth and practical introduction to the practice of Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFT). EFT remains a leading empirically supported treatment of couple distress. The Created for Connection Externship is designed to prepare therapists to reach couples who value a faith sensitive approach to couple therapy. The Externship offers a unique opportunity to incorporate key insights from Dr. Sue Johnson and Kenny Sanderfer’s recent book Created for Connection, a hands-on resource designed for Christian couples.
This unique training experience brings together four days of practical demonstrations, experiential exercises and dynamic presentations walking you step by step through the EFT process of change. The Externship is approved by the International Centre for Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT) and provides the first level of training required for certification as an Emotionally Focused Therapist. In addition, this training explores the integration of EFT principles and practices with theological insights and experiences common to Christian couples.
